King Kamehameha Statue

A photo and information about the King Kamehameha statue located at the entrance of the Aliiolani Hale in Honolulu.

Every year on June 11, which is the birthday of King Kamehameha I, this statue in front of the Aliiolani Hale is draped with dozens of fresh flower lei.

This statue is a replica of the original statue, which was which was lost at sea near the Falkland Islands in 1880. That original statue was recovered, and it now stands at Kamehameha's birthplace in Kapaau in the Kohala region of the Big island of Hawaii. In addition to the original statue in Kohala and the replica in Honolulu, there is another replica in Statuary Hall in Washington DC.

Location
The King Kamehameha I statue sits in front of the Aliiolani Hale, which is located across the street from the Iolani Palace at South King and Mililani Streets.
